Just finished the Pigman. Got it for .50 cents at the library. What a storyteller! I remembered watching The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the-Moon Marigolds and was very impressed. I will share this with my teenage sons as we share "great and essential" literature. What an author! Wow.

Hey, I read The Pigman and I really loved it, and I was reading stuff on wiki and I found out that Paul Zindel actually wrote a screenplay for the book, but no one actually adapted it? I just really wanna read the screenplay, somebody pleaseee tell me where I could find it :)

I recently was thinking about this amazing book I'd read as a young teen about a dying teacher who mentored her favorite students about the ways of the world and the wonders of Central Park, including showing them the Central Park rollercoaster, and for the life of me I couldn't remember the name of the book. I Googled everything I could find, and even read The Mixed Up Files of Ms Basil Frankenweiler thinking that might be it. Finally, I hit the right search string and found the wonderful A Begonia for Miss Applebaum, by your talented father. I ordered one of the few used copies I could find on Amazon, and just re-read it, and I think it made me cry just as much as it did all those years ago. What a beautiful, complicated, human book by an author of real sensitivity. I'm looking forward to re-reading The Undertaker's Gone Bananas as soon as that arrives, since I know that book made an impression on me all those years ago as well. Thank you for keeping Paul's memory alive. I know a lot of his books have gone out of print, but they are not forgotten.

It's been a long, long time since I read "Harry and Hortense at Hormone High" and "Pardon Me, You're Stepping on My Eyeball!". But for whatever reason I finally got around to reading "Marigolds" lately, and of all things, I am left wondering: what exactly is a penny marshmallow ship? Knowledge of the nature of this confection is lost to the ages; barely any trace of this phrase exists on the entirety of the Internet.

While we're on the subject, what's the deal with that three-stage flag rocket at the end of "Eyeball", if I may? No such thing seems to exist, but it could be that I'm just searching for the wrong terms. I'm quite curious as to what exactly it looks like.

Do please enlighten me if you would; these are questions that torment me. (At least I'm reasonably confident in the existence of something like the flying machine at the end of H&H@HH.)

I really liked the book because I thought that the story was really interesting, I liked it because The Pigman died in a sad way because all of his past has caught up with him like his wife and Bobo. Poor man.

Personally, I think that "The Pigman" was a very god book because it showed the troubles that John and Lorriane had with their parents and how Mr. Pignati was their only true friend.

I liked the book because it is very realistic. The events that happened could easily happen to any of us. It focus on some problems teenagers have which is drinking and parents leaving them. This book is a very good book.

I read "The Pigman" as a teenager, 15 or more years ago. Visiting this page now brings back many memories of this time, which is awesome. The book made quite an impression on me, and even now I remember much more of it than of many other books I've read since.

By the way, I also collect pigs, probably that's why I was given the book in the first place.
